I'm writing this in the eerie light of Monday afternoon - anyone else noticed the yellow-tinged sky? I'm reliably informed (thanks Jake!) that the high winds are picking up dust particles from Liberia and North Africa, turning our sky a yellowish colour and definitely giving off an unusual atmosphere! Kind of intriguing too, as we are about to leave for a 10 day trip to Zambia this evening! We're flying overnight, and when we get there temperatures are high 90s - I have no idea how I'm going to cope with that at all...so I'm not even thinking about it right now!
We'll stay a few days in Lusaka, visiting Sam and Hannah Fairs-Billam and their girls; and Tehila, the charity they run, Then it's a 5 hour journey North to reconnect with the pastors and families in Serenje, and visit the Dormitory to meet the girls.
Please do pray for us - safety and good health, pray for our families, pray that everywhere we go we take people up in their lift! (If like me you're early 50s, you'll understand my prayer request for sleeping, and for coping with the heat - and staying cheerful!!!)
Before I head off, I just wanted to big-up a lovely Kerith lady. Iris is such a blessing in our church family. She's kind, big-hearted, hard-working, endlessly cheerful and has a deep deep faith and love for Jesus. She's speaking at Crowthorne Baptist this Thursday, sharing about her experiences on Mission trips to Albania. I've had the honour of the prayerful and encouraging support of Iris on all 3 trips to Albania. She stepped out of her comfort zone to come to Eastern Europe; and she's stepping out of her comfort zone again this Thursday to talk to a group of ladies. I'm so proud of her. Please pray for her ... As she says, she's still breathing, so God's not finished with her yet.
